What is an exhaust up-pipe?
An exhaust up pipe is a pipe that connects a vehicle's turbocharger to its exhaust manifold. It's a vital component that guides hot exhaust gases into the turbocharger, where they are converted into boost. Up pipes are often made from durable materials like stainless steel or cast iron to withstand the high temperatures and support the weight of the turbocharger.

Looks nice, good welds

First Impression thought they were good quality, welds look good, they look nice. However, once I put a straight edge across the mounting flange I could immediately see they flanges were not a machined flat surface. Every flange had to be filed so they were flat. All the mounting surfaces were 0.010"-0.015" difference. If I would have installed them out of the box it would have leaked.
The way they were packaged was poorly done. One layer of some thin bubble wrap around each tube and placed in a box. The the mounting surfaces had several nicks that ended up being removed when I filed them to make the surface flat. The package of bolts it comes with are not high quality, they are some sort of steel that would most likely not last as long as they should. The factory hardware is stainless steel, easy way to tell is put a magnet to it and see if it sticks. Also the gaskets that come with these overlapped the hole on the turbo mounting flange by nearly 1/4" . I ground them out to match the port opening so there wouldn't be any restrictions. For now this is my review on these up-pipes. I will do another review at a later time once I have used these for a while to see how they hold up. I installed these on a 2015 Chevy Duramax LML 2500HD.

Frequently asked questions
What is an up pipe on a diesel engine?
Your up-pipe is the critical link between your engine and the turbocharger. Guiding hot exhaust gasses to the turbo, to be converted into boost.
What does an exhaust pipe do?
Your exhaust has four main functions: to control noise, to direct exhaust fumes away from passengers, to improve the performance of the engine and to improve fuel consumption. Depending on the make and model of your vehicle and the number of engine valves it has, the layout of your vehicle exhaust system may vary.
Can an engine run without an exhaust pipe?
While you can technically drive with a broken exhaust, it's neither safe nor legal and poses a number of issues when you're out on the road.
Do exhaust pipes add horsepower?
A performance exhaust system facilitates better airflow, enabling the engine to draw in more air with each cycle. This increased air intake leads to a notable boost in engine power. Depending on the model of vehicle most exhaust upgrades alone can see significant increase in power and torque.
